Yellow stagshorn fungus (calocera viscosa)

Leadburn Community Woodland – October 2025

Christmas is approaching and our Christmas tree pines have flourished this year. A large selection are ready for cutting and will be on sale as usual, starting on Saturday 29th November – more details to follow, or see  https://leadburnwood.com/christmas-trees/

Yellow stagshorn fungus (calocera viscosa), spiders’ webs, and guelder rose berries (viburnum opulus) entwined with bay willow catkins (salix pentandra) are creating their own decorations (no need for tinsel!).

A variety of fungi is flourishing on rotting log seats as they gently decay back into the soil, and a loyal band of volunteers have been turning up in all weathers to clear vegetation and repair paths.
