Leadburn Community Woodland – August 2026
This wonderful photo of a leaping roe deer was taken by Nigel Phillips of Penicuik Camera Club.
The Woodland is a riot of purple with swathes of heather, knapweed and rosebay willowherb. Several of the crab apple trees are laden with fruit.
Has anyone lost a pair of glasses? – last seen hanging on a tree on the Cotton Grass Loop.
We have recently produced a habitat map that you can download as pdf. As a spin-off, there is also a GIS map that can be loaded on your mobile device to show your position as you explore the woodland and gives information about the habitat and other features of the site.
